Unplugged Ceremony

When I meet with couples I always ask if they would like to have an “unplugged ceremony”. Many know what this is but for those who don’t, allow me to explain!

I typically will make an announcement at the beginning of the ceremony and say, “Sarah and John ask that you please silence your phones and put away your cameras so you can be truly present with them in the moment.” Photographers usually love when couples have unplugged ceremonies and some have even started to add this as a requirement in their contract! It helps keep guests from stepping in the way, holding up their phone or preventing the photographer, who you’ve likely paid a good chunk of money for photos, from getting a great shot! I find this especially important if you haven’t done a first look prior to your ceremony. Seeing each other as you walk down the aisle is such a special moment and you don’t want a bunch of cell phones blocking your view!

Are you still not quite sure what I mean? Check out the photos above. This decision is completely up to you but I like to offer my announcement to the couple if they request it. Whatever you choose, I hope you have amazing photos!
